Here at J.V Leather, we use top quality veg tanned leather from select tanneries in Italy, America and England.
Veg tanning involves using natural tannins found in tree bark, giving a firm, natural finish that ages beautifully over time. A veg tan finish does not crack or flake with age, and requires very little care to maintain.
Most leather goods today - from jackets and gloves to bags and wallets - are made from Chrome Tanned leathers.
This process uses harsh Chromium Salts to treat the hide, which on one hand produces strong, vibrant colours, but on the other, leaves the leather brittle and prone to cracks, tears and failure.
At J.V. Leather, we exclusively use vegetable tanned leathers for their superior quality, longer lifespan and tough yet supple finish.
Our products are sewn with a traditional Saddle Stitch. This can only be done by hand, and ties a knot in each and every stitch. Not only is this incredibly strong, but it means that should a single stitch break, the remainder of the piece will not unravel as with a machine stitch.
